Our team brings together lived experience, professional expertise, and a shared commitment to reproductive justice. Each of us contributes our time, knowledge, and heart to help make homebirth more accessible and to support Black birthing families and future midwives.
Program Director
Leena is a licensed midwife serving Austin, TX through Shakti Midwifery and is a co-founder of BHBMATX. As Program Director, she helps oversee the fund's operations, supports applicants and recipients, and works to ensure that financial assistance reaches Black families and student midwives with care, transparency, and intention.

Ulrike is a licensed midwife now located in North Carolina, serving families in the Asheville area through Heart of Gold Birth. She is a co-founder and Executive Director of BHBMATX, where she provides organizational leadership and guides the fund's long-term vision.

Program Coordinator
Dominique is a full-spectrum doula, birth photographer, and student midwife serving families in Austin, Texas. She is a Program Director for Giving Austin Labor Support (GALS) and BHBMATX, where she helps connect Black families and student midwives with resources, advocates for equitable access to birth care, and supports the organization's community-centered mission.

Engagement Coordinator
Scout is a full-spectrum doula, yoga teacher, ritualist and student midwife serving families in Central Texas. As a community organizer and Engagement Coordinator for BHBMATX, they cultivate community partnerships, share the organization's mission through storytelling and outreach, and help connect supporters, families, and future midwives to the work of advancing Black maternal health.
